What’s the difference between a health advisor and a concierge doctor? A concierge doctor acts as a primary care physician who provides extra time and attention to patients. In contrast, a health advisor offers comprehensive and robust support beyond the doctor's office, coordinating care and treatment in various situations, and above all, mitigating health risk. 

While a concierge doctor may make a call to the ER in the case of an emergency, their guidance would likely end there without deeper guidance. Often, the patient is left wondering, “What am I supposed to do next?”  While the personal details in the following case study have been changed, this is a true story of an elderly person who needed our help in an emergency.

Lorraine, 74, lives in Miami. She has diabetes and heart disease, and she is almost completely blind and has trouble hearing. Lorraine has been working with Wellworth for several years. We coordinate her care with her live-in aide and nine different doctors, collaborating with her financial advisors to plan for long-term care costs.

Situation

A few months ago, Lorraine slipped while getting out of the shower and hit her head on the tile floor, causing her forehead and face to bleed. Her aide immediately called 911 and then contacted us.

We recommended she go to a specific emergency room and called the ER to provide critical health information. We also sent a private duty nurse to be at Lorraine’s side. Throughout her hospital treatment, we provided updates to her family and doctors, connecting her primary care physician with the hospital doctors for the best possible care.

When Lorraine was discharged, we arranged follow-up care at home, scheduled appointments with a plastic surgeon and a dermatologist, and continued to manage her other health issues.
